Hawaii! What A Trip! The Beaches.

Well, I’m back from Hawaii. What a trip it was! Sadly, it wasn’t long enough, but when is it ever? There is just so much to share about this trip and the awesome things I did and things you should do for sure if you get a chance to go to Oahu!

I’ll start off with Waikiki and the beaches we went too. We stayed at the Grand Waikikian, part of the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The grounds were stunning, felt like its own city. Waikiki is a gorgeous beach, though always crowded. Going in October made the crowds seem a bit smaller, but still always had people there nonetheless.

One day, we drove around the entire island. We were able to check out a few different beaches and views. The first stop was on the north shore – Keana Point. You wouldn’t swim here, but my god – the views.

Following that, we headed east and hit up some other great beaches. We were able to see kite surfing!

Next we went to Makapu’u Beach, one went went too a few times. Stunning.

And the last beach I’ll tell you about – we got to watch surfers. Sandy Beach Park.

So there you have it. The first of my Hawaii trip! I still have so much more to share about it, stay tuned!

Less than a week until Hawaii!

I can’t even believe it. In less than a week, I’ll be in Hawaii. Can you believe it?! Two more days of work separate me from my vacation, and honestly, I don’t believe it. It’s going to feel more real once we get to airport.

I even started packing! Well, I got together the 5 bikinis I bought and packed them. I plan on packing the rest Sunday, the day before we leave. Makes the day go by faster! I’m not sure how often I’ll be posting, but I’ll be sure to share all the travel goodies eventually.

Sadly, I feel like I’m coming down with a cold of sorts. I’ve been taking things for it, I’m hoping it passes here soon!

Tomorrow my dad and I are going on a hike, but we’ll be bringing my dog along! We’re going to at least one mountain, one I did solo before. I didn’t get to see the view that day either, it was crappy weather. Tomorrow is going to be quite warm though.

Here’s to hiking, and here’s to Hawaii!

Countdown to Hawaii, the beaches!

Here we go, the beaches of Oahu! We’re getting closer and closer to my trip to Hawaii! Needless to say, I haven’t been this excited for a trip in ages. One of the best parts of the trip will be hanging out on the beach! Here are some of the beaches I plan on visiting while I’m there. This is not an all-encompassing list, but the ones I plan on for sure visiting!

Have you been to Hawaii? What is your favorite beach?

Countdown to Hawaii! The Hikes!

Here is another Hawaii post! It’s only 24 days away?! Crazy it’s so close. Anyway, this post is dedicated to the hikes I plan on to make!

Diamond Head Crater

Diamond Head

I’ll be staying in Honolulu, so hiking Diamond Head is a must! Diamond Head is located right near Honolulu. It’s not a long hike, and only 520 feet in gain, compared to some others I’ve done, this is cake. The views from Diamond Head are the goal, and I can’t wait to share those!

Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail

Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail

This trail is located near Honolulu as well, a bit longer, 3.3 round trip and 1220 feet in gain. The views from here are gorgeous, there is a lighthouse as well. The entire trail is paved, but no shade!

These are my only two planned hikes at this point, I have a lot of other things planned, I don’t want to only hike the whole time. My next post for Hawaii will feature some of the beautiful beaches I plan on sitting my butt down on and enjoying the waves.

Hawaii! 38 Days To Go!

I cannot believe we’re already under 40 days!! I get more and more excited every day. Perioducally, I’ll look for a better deal on a hotel. The hotel we booked, the Park Shore Waikiki, has nothing wrong with it! But if I can find a better deal somewhere – I’ll take it!

And I found one!

We changed our hotel reservations to the Grand Waikikian! It is a bit more than we were spending before, but the room and hotel are amazing. We booked a 2 Bedroom Oceanview Suite with a balcony. Instead of two adjoining rooms, we will be able to have a mini apartment basically.

The hotel itself is part of the Hilton Hawaiian Village, which has two hotel towers as well as a third hotel tower with just timeshare units.

The room also has a full kitchen as well as a washer and dryer – perfect for the early mornings we’re going to have before heading off for the day!

The main photo for this blog is one of the pools at the hotel, the one right above this is the lagoon located between the hotel and the beach. It’s by far going to be the fanciest hotel/resort I’ve stayed at – and I cannot wait.

So only 38 days to go! I can’t wait to share my adventures and experiences. There are a couple more excursions I want to write about, such as Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head as well as other hikes.

I’ve bought 4 new bathing suits for this trip – perfect after losing some weight!

Hawaii: Wild Side Speciality Tours

Here is my second post on the plans for my Hawaii trip, coming up this fall. I’ve never seen dolphins the wild. I’ve never seen whales either. I do scuba dive, so I’ve seen some sea turtles. I wanted to do some sort of snorkel trip while we where on Oahu, but I didn’t want to do an overcrowded one. A lot of the ones leaving from Honolulu looked like they had over 40 people on the tour at one time. I’d feel more like a herd of cattle than a girl on vacation.

After some searching on Trip Advisor, I ended up booking a tour with Wild Side Specialty Tours. I booked their Best Of The West tour. My mother won’t be going with me, she hates boats. I’m pretty excited – there were almost all positive reviews. This company only allows at most 6 people on a tour at once and they have well educated crews they are all about conservation.

The tour is 3.5+ hours long and includes snorkeling, whale watching as well as dolphin swims. Hope the weather is beautiful that day! I’ll be sure to take photos as well as video to share.

Countdown to Hawaii, 69 Days To Go!

So, I’ve you’ve been reading, you know I’m headed to Hawaii in October. In anticipation, I’m going to share some of the cool things we have planned! I share them over the next couple of months. Today I’ll share the helicopter tour!

3912e8_small_OahuYes! A helicopter tour! How awesome? Hawaii is such a beautiful place, with so much to see. So why not see it all from the air? I did some researching on Trip Advisor and ended up booking a tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters.

We will be on Oahu for the trip and booked the complete island tour. That little image gives you a good idea oh the area we will cover on the tour. The area that is highlighted is covered. The tour is supposed to take about an hour, so it’s a lot of ground to cover in an hour!

I’ve never been in a helicopter before, but the reviews for this company were amazing. People really seemed to enjoy it! Here are some photos taken on Oahu!

My Hawaii Countdown!

73 Days! I did mention briefly in my last post that my mother and I are headed to Hawaii this October, in 73 days to be exact! I’m pretty excited. I love to travel, I have been a few places. I went to Europe about 9 years ago, more recently I’ve been down to the Florida Keys, Chicago, Boston, NYC and the Outer Banks in North Carolina. I’ve never really been to a beach with palm trees. Sounds silly, right? The outer banks were gorgeous, but it wasn’t your picturesque white sandy beaches. The keys were beautiful, but there are not a lot of beaches, it mostly rocky coastline.

I’ve seen beautiful places, but cannot wait to see Hawaii. We’re traveling to Oahu and staying in Honolulu. I didn’t want to stay anywhere crazy expensive, but wanted to stay some place as close to the beach as we could. My mom won’t be going on some of the excursions with me, so I wanted to be sure she was close to the beach.

Screen Shot 2017-07-22 at 4.22.20 PM.pngWe’re staying at the Park Shore Waikiki. It looks beautiful. Nothing crazy, but right across the street from the beach and at the end of the strip!

Here’s a photo of the hotel. Now, I know this doesn’t nearly do it justice. So let me share some more. The hotel has a couple of restaurants, and here is the view from one of them!

Screen Shot 2017-07-22 at 4.24.20 PM.png

You just can’t go wrong there. How beautiful is that view. But it gets better. Just wait. Here is the view from the room, not the exact one, but we are in an Oceanfront room.

Also amazing. So I’ll be post somethings periodically about the trip, like our plans and things we have booked for the week. Here’s to the countdown and my on going weightless in preparation!
